Receive Payments Easily with Tap to Pay on iPhone

Receiving payments has now become a lot easier for iPhone-using merchants. Apple recently launched ‘Tap to Pay’ which allows merchants to use their iPhones as payment terminals.

With Apple’s Tap to Pay, merchants can accept contactless payments with a simple tap on their iPhones.

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about Apple’s Tap to pay system.

What is Apple’s Tap to Pay?

Tap to Pay is a new feature that allows business people to use their iPhones to receive contactless payments from customers without the use of any hardware like iPhone card readers or terminals.

How Tap to Pay on iPhone Works

Tap to Pay operates on Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology, which makes it possible for people to make wireless transactions. With this technology, users can exchange data within a 10 cm range using NFC-enabled devices.

Transactions via Tap to pay are completely secure with NFC. This system offers a smooth and transparent process of payment. The merchant’s name, and the amount requested by the merchant, among other things, are displayed on the screen. So, the chances of getting defrauded are slim.

How to use Apple's Tap to Pay on Your iPhone

This feature is very easy to use. Any business person that wants to use Tap to Pay on their iPhone will first have to download an app that supports the feature from the Apple store. After setting up the app, they will be able to use the Tap to pay feature.

To receive payments on the app, a customer simply has to hold their smartphone or other supported devices close to your iPhone or over your iPhone until the transaction shows complete.

Customers who have any of the following supported options can make payments with Tap to Pay:

  • iPhone
  • Apple Watch
  • Apple pay
  • Other digital wallets
  • American Express
  • Contactless debit cards or credit cards
  • Visa cards and MasterCard

On Which iPhone Model Can You Use Tap to Pay?

Even though Tap to Pay is meant for iPhone users, this feature is not supported in all iPhone models. Even iPhone models such as iPhones 6, 7, 8, X, and XR that support NFC, may not be able to use Tap to pay on them.
