How to Increase Call Quality on IPad, IPhone, and Mac

Looking for a way to increase call quality on your iPad, iPhone, or mac? Here’s something you probably didn’t know. You can boost the quality of your calls using a certain feature on your Apple device.

This feature is hidden in your device control panel, which is why a lot of people don’t know about it. It is known as Voice Isolation. Voice Isolation was launched alongside Apple’s iOS 15 and macOS Monterey and is only available on these devices.

How Voice Isolation Works

Voice Isolation is a feature hidden in the control panel of the new Apple iOS 15 and macOS Monterey that works to boost call quality by improving voice clarity when making audio and video calls.

It basically blocks out all background noise when you’re on a call and ensures that you only hear the voice of the person on the other end of the call. It works extremely well for when you’re in a noisy environment such as a party, or a busy place. It removes all the background noise and makes your voice clearer.

How to Use Voice Isolation to Increase Call Quality

It is easy to use Voice Isolation in your Apple iOS 15 or macOS Monterey device. Once you are on a call on any of the apps you use for audio or video calls, you can enable voice isolation in just a few simple steps and apply it to your call.

On iOS and iPadOS, all you have to do is swipe down from the top right corner of your screen and tap on the Mic Modes menu. On macOS, simply click on the top right corner of your screen and open the Mic Modes menu.

There, you will find two options: Wide Spectrum and Voice Isolation. Select Voice Isolation and your voice and that of the person you’re on a call with will be isolated from all the unwanted noise.

There is no general setting for this feature on your device. For this reason, you will have to manually turn on Voice Isolation for every audio or video calling app you use.

Which Models Support Voice Isolation?

The most recent iPhones, iPads, and Macs that run on iOS 15 or macOS Monterey support Voice Isolation.

You will not find this feature in the old Apple devices. Even if you upgrade your device to run on iOS 15 or macOS Monterey, it still does not guarantee that Voice Isolation will be available in it.
